In a recent development, the Turkish-affiliated local council of Afrin, announced on its Facebook page that a new settlement called “Al-Amal 2” has been opened in collaboration with the General Authority for Relief and Development (ANSAR). The settlement comprises 500 residential units, along with various amenities and services.

In addition to the residential units, the settlement also includes two kindergartens, a football field, parks, a clinic, a mosque, and an institute for Quranic studies. The settlement is located 7 kilometers southeast of the city of Afrin and was established by the International Relief and Development Agency (ANSAR), which was licensed in Turkey and has its main office in the city of Antep. It was built on land seized from the private property of Afrin residents, at the entrance to the northern side of the “Kobaleh (10 houses)” farm, which belongs to the village of Jilber-Rubaria, and which was forcibly evacuated during the aggression on the area.

It is worth noting that a wall has been erected on the seized land facing “Al-Amal 2,” in preparation for the construction of another settlement village, without compensating the owners of the seized lands.

Syrian Observatory activists reported on April 20th that the “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia cut down 280 trees owned by displaced residents of the village of Shitka, located in the Mobata district of Afrin, to build a residential complex on the road connecting Jindires and Afrin. The complex is set to receive 200 prefabricated houses from the Palestinian “Ajnadine” organization under the direct supervision of the organization, after a contract was signed with the “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia and with the approval of Turkey.

As a first step, 20 prefabricated houses were sent to the new residential complex, with the remaining houses to be sent in batches. The so-called “Living with Dignity” Muslim Brotherhood Association, in partnership with a Turkish association that refused to disclose its name, began building a new settlement in the form of a village on 10 acres of land on the outskirts of Marata village, west of the occupied city of Afrin. Sources from Afrin reported that about 100 houses are being built on a 40-square-meter area, in addition to encouraging residency by providing all the necessary services.

Armed militia “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” seized and uprooted around 280 olive trees to pave the way for a new settlement on the road linking Jindires to Afrin. The ownership of the olive fields belongs to displaced citizens from the village of Shitka in the Mobata/Ma`batli sub-district. The Palestinian organization “Ajnadine” will supply this settlement with 200 prefabricated homes after contracting with Ahrar al-Sharqiya, with the approval of Turkey, and the settlement will be under the direct supervision of the organization. As a first step, 20 prefabricated homes were sent to the project site, with the remaining homes to arrive in batches.
