At gunpoint, “Al-Hamzat” militants loot olive crop in Kari village, Afrin

The so-called “Abu Rabei”, a leader of “Al-Hamzah Division” in the village of Ubbla in Bulbul district, imposed a 10% royalty on the olive season harvested in a field belonging to the person “Hussein Ibrahim” under the threat of weapons, according to our sources there.

The sources stated, the so-called “Abu Rabei” accompanied by another gunman, went to the olive field of “Hussein Ibrahim, (67 years old – from the village of Kari), located in the vicinity of the village of Ubbla and ordered him to pay a royalty of 10%, i.e. (3 sacks of olives of the 25 sacks were collected from the field, bearing in mind that each sack is estimated at 80 kg), but “Hussein” refused the order, which prompted the so-called “Abu Rabie” to bring in three other armed men and threatened to kill the elderly Kurdish man if he insisted for not giving the imposed royalty, with threats and verbal insults directed at him, and pushing him several times to knock him down, until the royalty was robbed despite his resistance.

The Kurdish farmer said while the gunmen were loading the looted olives: “You are not my father, my brother, or my partner. Why would you take away my crop for which I gave my time and money? Is it because I am a Kurd that you are committing these acts against me?” “Abu Rabie,” replied him, “You are a racist and you already know the consequences of such words,” alluding to the ease of being accused of belonging or cooperating with the Democratic Union Party and putting him in prison.
