Turkish-Allied Militia Abducts Kurdish Citizen in Afrin

afrinpost-Exclusive

Turkish-backed militia known as the “Syrian National Army,” abducted Ahmed Barkat Dawood, a 57-year-old Kurdish citizen, on Wednesday, April 17th. The abduction occurred after Dawood lodged a complaint against an armed member of the militia for seizing his home near the Maysalun School in Al-Ashrafiyah, one of the largest neighborhoods in the occupied city of Afrin.

According to our sources, Dawood, who had returned from Iraq earlier in April, sought to reclaim his home, which is unlawfully occupied by an armed individual from Homs. He approached the military police militias and filed a complaint, but armed members of the “Al-Muatasim” militia abducted him from a relative’s house, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

afrinpost” has documented a total of 10 cases of arrests and abductions since the beginning of April 2024, including two cases on Turkish soil and two arrests of IDPs. Additionally, 27 cases of release have been recorded.
