Thieves and Militias Loot Water Station Equipments in Afrin

afrinpost – Exclusive

Armed thieves, aligned with Turkish-backed militias, and their affiliates continue looting and robbing residents’ belongings in the occupied city of Afrin. Additionally, theft of equipment from service centers has disrupted public services for the city’s population.

In recent incidents, IDPs stole around $400 from a shop named “Arakel Al-Sultan” on Rajo Road in occupied Afrin. Unknown thieves struck for the third time, stealing equipment from the Tarnada water station between Afrin city and the village of Tarnada. Stolen items included pumps, batteries, and parts of the primary generator, causing a water shortage in part of al-Ashrafieh neighborhood in central occupied Afrin.

This is the station’s third theft within a year, and previously, elements from the “Faylaq al-Sham” militia stole about 15 new pipes from a water well near the power station close to Tarnada village on July 30, 2022, which were meant for the village residents.
