Turkish-backed Military Police Arrests Four Kurds without Charge in Afrin

Turkish-affiliated “Military Police” militia arrested four Kurdish citizens on March 28, 2023, without any information about the charges against them, according to our reporter in Afrin.

The reporter stated that the security checkpoint at the entrance of Afrin city, known as “Al-Qaws,” arrested and detained the citizens: Shekho Lekman Hamo, 27 years old, Mohammed Lekman Hamo, 16 years old, Shekho Farhad Hamo, 17 years old, from the village of Dîkê – Bulbul, and Khalil Idris, 17 years old, from the village of Haj Khalil – Rajo, and took them to the headquarters of the “Military Police” militia in the occupied city of Afrin without knowing the charges against them.

It is worth noting that on March 29, 2023, the Military Police arrested Salah Ismail Hamo, 44 years old, from the village of Dîkê, with the intention of extorting money from him, and released him the following day after he paid a financial penalty.

During March 2023, afrinpost reported a total of 20 cases of arrests and kidnappings, out of which 15 affected citizens of Afrin and one occurred on Turkish soil. On the positive side, 11 cases of release were also documented.
