The Turkish forces and its backed-militias continue to bulldoze and excavate archaeological sites and monuments in Afrin region, by heavy machinery in search of burials and archaeological treasures.

Our sources in Afrin monitored the Turkish-backed “Jaish Al-Sharqiy” militia digging and bulldozing in an olive field located on the site (Girkê Sîndankê) hill with the aim of extracting and trading its archaeological burials for the benefit of Ankara authorities in the occupied Kurdish region.

The archaeological hill is located 400 meters north of the village of Sindanka – Jindires district, specifically west of Miska Road, where special sources from the area reported that the excavation work began about a year ago by the armed group led by the so-called “Abu Khalil – from the people of Deir Ezzor”, the leader in “Jaish Al-Sharqiya”.

The sources pointed out that on the archaeological hill there are about 50 70-year-old olive trees belonging to the forcibly displaced citizen, “Fakhri Hamo”, where the depths of the excavation ranged between 2-5 meters between trees, and archaeological building stones appeared, although excavation work continues at an intermittent pace, and is carried out by heavy machinery.

The sources noted that the militia has appointed an armed element to guard the site, which prevents the people from approaching it, knowing that he impersonates a shepherd and lives in a tent near the site.
