Our sources in Afrin reported that Turkish authorities have released citizen “Issa Omar” from Arab community in Afrin after he paid a fine of $3700.
Mr. Issa Omar (50 years old), a resident of the Al-Awijah neighborhood in Aleppo city, was arrested on March 14, 2024, on charges of having past dealings with the former Autonomous Administration in the occupied city of Afrin.
Mr. Issa has been residing in Afrin since 2008 and is employed in agriculture. He was extorted by the military police militia and asked to pay a sum of $3000 about a week ago, on the pretext that his name was on their wanted list. When he refused to pay, he was arbitrarily detained on fabricated charges.
