The Turkish-backed groups in Afrin continue to cut trees from the forests and fields of the Kurdish people, justifying their cutting on flimsy charges centered on cooperating with the former Autonomous Administration in Afrin.
Our reporter stated that gunmen affiliated with the Turkish-backed “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia cut down, on December 27, 15 olive trees belonging to “Samir Ibrahim,” who is from the village of Khalnereh, and 7 large cypress trees that surrounded his field on Rajo Road, under the pretext that the person was a member of the Former commune of Al-Zaydiyah neighborhood in Afrin.
The militants sold the firewood to an IDP, from the town of Hayan, who in turn cut it, sorted it, and sold it in a shop located in Al-Ashrafieh neighborhood, the reporter added.
On the other hand, pro-Turkey gunmen steal sewage covers, phone covers, water and old phone cables from the streets of Afrin city, after the delay in receiving their salaries, in light of the prevailing tension in the areas controlled by the Turkish forces in northern Syria, following the tripartite meeting between the defense ministers of Syria, Russia and Turkey and the calls for reconciliation after the rapprochement between Ankara and Damascus.
