On the 23rd of this December, members of the Turkish-backed “Faylaq Al-Sham” militia assaulted and beat an elderly Kurdish woman after tying her up and robbing her of her savings and jewelry in the village of Basoufan in the occupied countryside of Afrin.

Our reporter in the village said that the “Faylaq Al-Sham” members assaulted the elderly widow, “Fatima Junaid”, who is 75 years old, by beating her after tying her with a rope and then robbing her of three gold bracelets, two rings and a golden necklace, in addition to stealing a large amount of money.

It is noteworthy that the elderly “Fatima” lives alone in her house after the death of her husband in the village of Basoufan in Sherawa district.

Incidents of assault on the elderly Kurds in the Afrin region repeat once in awhile, especially i the village of Basoufan since its people are Yazidis. As the villagers have been subjected to several campaigns of arrest, killing, kidnapping, torture, insults and financial extortion. Dozens of them, including women, were arrested and subjected to severe torture. In addition to vandalizing the shrine and graves in the village and destroying its shrines.
