Al-Hamza militia imposes royalties on “olive season” in 4 villages in Afrin

The Turkish-supported Al-Hamza Division militia imposed Yesterday, October 6, royalties on the olive season in the villages of Kafardali Fawqani, Kfardali Tahtani, Faqira and Gawarkan in Jindires district in the countryside of the northern Syrian region of Afrin, under the pretext of providing protection.

Our reporter stated that Al-Hamza Division militia, accompanied by the mayors of the aforementioned villages, imposed a royalty on each “oil can” by obliging the farmers to pay one can of oil for every 10, i.e. an estimated 10% of the total product of those who have a power of attorney on the behalf of the forcibly displaced from the people of those villages, under the pretext of providing protection or a tip, to the checkpoints of Al-Hamzah Division militia deployed at the entrances to the villages.

The reporter pointed out that the checkpoints of Al-Hamzah Division militia are also imposing royalties of 100 to 200 Turkish liras on farmers, for plowing or looking after their lands, which costs them huge sums in light of the high wages of workers in addition to to agricultural and transport wages.
