Unknown snipers targeted a vehicle carrying a Kurdish family from the village of Qurt Qulaq (Afrin) in the Shihan area of Aleppo on Saturday, November 30. The attack resulted in the deaths of Jamal Mursal and his 24-year-old son, Hassan Mursal, while leaving the wife and daughter critically injured.
According to our correspondent, the victims were evacuated to Yassin Hospital in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, where the injured mother and daughter remain under medical care.
The incident occurred amidst significant changes in Aleppo’s power dynamics. Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and Turkish-backed militias have reportedly taken control of most of Aleppo province following the withdrawal of Syrian regime forces, as documented by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights on November 30.
The occupation of key areas in northern Syria by Ankara-backed factions raises fears of escalating violence and heightened risks for local civilians, particularly minority Kurdish communities.
