Our correspondent reported that armed IDPs and civilians fully looted the olive harvest from 100 trees in the village of Kela, Bulbul sub-district, last night. Scattered broken branches and fallen olives were left behind, reflecting the extent of the theft.
The stolen trees belonged to Arif and Jamil Nouri and the late Manan Dado. Despite claims by the “Faylaq al-Majd” militia that they provide security for the harvest, they charge a protection fee of one U.S. dollar per tree. Additionally, the militia imposes another fee of three dollars per tree, along with confiscating a significant portion of olive oil from the village. In previous years, this amounted to 150 cane of olive oil, each containing 16 kilograms of pure olive oil.
