Militia Seizes Vehicles and Olive Oil from Village Residents, Enforcing Heavy Levies

Our correspondent reported that in recent days, the Sultan Suleiman Shah militia, led by Mohammed al-Jassim (known as Abu Amsha), has confiscated the majority of tractors and vehicles owned by residents in the village of Kakhour\Kaxrê, in the Maabatli sub-district. The action was reportedly taken to pressure villagers who have yet to pay a levy of $6 per olive tree—a total sum amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The militia has also confiscated a significant portion of olive oil production from the village’s press until the demanded payments are fully collected. Additionally, vehicles leaving the village are subject to inspection, with a fee of $1 imposed on each container of olive oil (equivalent to 16 kg) transported for sale or distribution.

Several villagers have been summoned to the militia’s headquarters, where they reportedly faced insults and threats, demanding prompt payment of the imposed levies.

As a result, 80-year-old Halima Hamrasho was forced to flee the village to Aleppo, unable to meet the $7,000 levy imposed on her property. Subsequently, the militia seized her home and all of her assets.
