A local source reported that Turkish authorities detained Kurdish singer Hanan Mohammad Sani, 50, from the town of Baadina in Afrin, on the evening of November 1. Sani was reportedly arrested after returning from a performance in Gaziantep, with no reason provided for his detention. Sani has been residing in Gaziantep with his family for years, and there are concerns that he may face forced deportation to Syria. He remains in custody under what the source describes as arbitrary detention.

In a separate incident, near the village of Shangeleh in Afrin’s Bulbul sub-district, pro-Turkish “Border Guard” militia detained two civilians this morning. Mohammed Sarhan, 39, from Hama, and Imad Rashid Khalil, 39, from the town of Sharran in Afrin, were arrested while attempting to cross into Turkey with the intent to migrate. According to our correspondent, the smuggler, originally from the city of Azaz, reportedly informed authorities, leading to their detention.
