A reliable source reports that approximately a month ago, Ahmed Shahoud Rashid, known as “Haoun al-Rashid,” the deputy and nephew of the militia leader Abdul Nasser Jalal Shallouh of the “Ninth Division,” along with his associates, attacked a young Kurdish man, Shero Salah Osman Mustafa, aged 23, from the village of Mosako in the Rajo district.
The incident occurred near the so-called “Ma’me Abis Tree” on the Armout-Midan Akbas road adjacent to the village. Shero was severely beaten, had his hair and beard shaved, and was left on the roadside in a deplorable condition. The attackers warned him not to file any complaints under the threat of death.
The attack was reportedly prompted by an earlier interaction where Shero had given a curt response to Haroun when asked why he hadn’t invited him to his home while passing by in Mosako.
Further harassment of Shero’s family ensued on May 22, 2024, when a member of the “Ninth Division” demanded a water tank delivery from Shero’s father, Salah Osman Mustafa, aged 50. Salah, preoccupied with farming, declined the request.
The next day, while working in the fields, Shero’s brother, Jwan Salah Osman Mustafa, was pursued by a black Hyundai jeep belonging to the “Military Police in Rajo,” driven by Ahmed Abu Al-Nauf. Jwan fled to a nearby checkpoint seeking protection but was instead beaten by the militia members, including Yusuf Mu’ayki, Ammar Mu’ayki, and Abu Hayat, all affiliated with the “Ninth Division.” Both Jwan and his father, Salah, were abducted and later released at midnight, showing signs of severe torture.

Residents of Mosako, particularly tractor owners, frequently suffer from the militia’s abuses, being coerced into providing water transport without compensation. The dominance of the “Ninth Division” within the local military police has led to escalating harassment and rights violations against Kurdish citizens.
