In the past three days, more than 13 young men have been abducted by the Ninth Division militia, recently deported by Turkish authorities through the Jarabulus border crossing between Syria and Turkey. Most of the deportees refused to pay an extortion to the militias stationed near the crossing.
According to our correspondent, some youths refused to pay 1500 Turkish lira to the militia checkpoints, while others refused to board the militia-operated vehicles to reach their homes in Al-Bab city and Idlib.
Zuhair Abdullah Al-Sheikh Mahmoud, a resident of Al-Klasseh neighborhood in Aleppo, told “afrinpost” that the Ninth Division militia forced him to pay 1500 Turkish lira and imposed on him to ride one of their cars to reach his family residing in Sajou camp in the northern countryside of Azaz.
He explained that among the deportees were 13 young men who refused to pay the demanded money or ride any means of transportation operated by the militia, so the latter kidnapped them and threw them into one of the secret prisons in Jarabulus city to force them to pay the money.
The Turkish-allied Ninth Division militia specializes in kidnapping civilians, especially those deported from Turkish territory, and trading them by imposing extortions and demanding ransom for their release through its checkpoints near the crossing and within the occupied Jarabulus area.
It is worth mentioning that he militia abducted 12 individuals, most of them from Aleppo and Homs provinces, on February 18, after being deported by Turkish authorities through the Jarabulus border crossing.
On January 23, 2024, the aforementioned militia abducted three young men from the city of Raqqa for refusing to pay the demanded fee and took them to one of its headquarters in the occupied city of Jarabulus in the northern countryside of Aleppo.
