In a gruesome incident that adds to the catalogue of violations perpetrated by Turkish-allied SNA militias and IDPs against the indigenous Kurdish population of Afrin, a serious crime occurred, underscoring the ongoing cycle of violence against innocent Kurdish civilians since the region fell under occupation on March 18, 2018.
According to our correspondent, an IDP named “Yamen Ahmed Ibrahim,” aged 18 and hailing from the Sinjar district in the Idlib countryside, brutally murdered 16-year-old Ahmad Khaled Maamo, a resident of the Hamameh/Hamam village in the Jindires district of Afrin, by stabbing him to death.
Our correspondent elucidated that a dispute erupted nearly a week ago between the minor Ahmad, the son of “Maddeh” bakery owner, and the IDP Yaman, who was employed at the same bakery. Today, the IDP allegedly stabbed Ahmad in the neck and threw him into a water well along the road connecting the city of Jindires to the village of Tel Sallor, owned by citizen Hajj Ibrahim.
The locals, alongside so-called civil defense teams, hastily retrieved the body from the well after the IDP confessed to its location. The body was then transported to the military hospital in the occupied city of Afrin amidst simmering anger among the gathered people outside the hospital.
This incident comes just days after the stabbing of Kurdish student “Shiyar Ibrahim” by his fellow classmates at Mobata High School, due to jealousy over his academic excellence.
On the afternoon of February 25, 2014, student “Shiyar Ibrahim Omar” was subjected to a bloody assault with the intent to kill inside a classroom at Mobata High School by four IDP students hailing from the countryside of Aleppo and Hama. The assailants used knives and a military bayonet, causing severe bleeding. He was immediately rushed to a clinic in Mobata town and later transferred to the Amanos Hospital, where life-saving surgery was performed, leaving him still incapacitated. According to medical reports, the stab wounds inflicted on student “Shiyar” were deep and life-threatening, resulting in severe bleeding.
