In a second move of its kind this month, Turkish authorities conducted the transfer of two Syrian detainees, Jumana Zakkour (28) and Yumama Safwan (21), from Kafr Jannah Prison in eastern Afrin to a prison located within Turkish borders on February 4, 2024.
As reported by “North Press,” an official from the Military Police militia, disclosed that the authorities moved the detainees after detaining them for six months, citing allegations of collaboration with the Syrian Democratic Forces. The transfer occurred through the Hamam border crossing in the countryside of Jindires, employing two military vehicles in coordination with the Military Police militia.
This incident marks the second occasion this month in which Syrians have been relocated to Turkish territory from prisons in Afrin city and its surroundings. The total count of transferred detainees stands at 10, including three women, according to the same source.
