Amid ongoing security lapses and the weakened state of Turkish authorities’ security forces, coupled with their overlooking of armed militia violations, Kurdish civilians in the occupied city of Afrin are subjected to blatant daylight robberies.
In a recent incident on January 21, two armed individuals on a motorcycle robbed Fatima Mohamed, a 45-year-old resident of Shikata village. The robbery occurred immediately after she exited a currency exchange shop near Mahmoud Temo Clinic. The stolen bag contained $400, a gold ring, a mobile phone, and another amount in Turkish lira.
Similarly, on January 22, a motorbike was stolen from in front of the house of Abdulrahman Abdo, a resident of the Sharan district, near the Suleiman al-Halabi School in Al-Ashrafiya neighborhood.
