Militias and IDPs Cut 93 Trees in Occupied Afrin

Our correspondent reports that Turkish-backed armed militia members, along with their IDP relatives, have cut down 93 fruit-bearing trees in the occupied countryside of Afrin, intending to engage in the illegal timber trade.

In detail, IDPs residing in camps in the village of Deir Bllout – Jindires sub-district, on January 14, cut down 33 fruit-bearing trees from a field owned by citizen “Aref Hassan” from the village of Aghjale, with the protection of armed members from the “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militias. The cut trees included 24 olive trees, 8 almond trees, and one walnut tree. It’s worth noting that the field owner resides in the occupied city of Afrin.

In the Sharan sub-district, armed members of the “Sultan Murad Division” militias cut down 45 olive trees from a field owned by forcibly displaced citizen “Ahmed Khuja,” who currently resides in Al-Shahba region in the northern countryside of Aleppo.

On the morning of January 11, 15 olive trees owned by the “Jamil Amo” family from the village of Terenda, near the “Tarfiq” road behind Al-Ashrafieh neighborhood in the occupied city of Afrin, were cut down.
