Armed individuals affiliated with Turkish-backed militias in Afrin are reportedly involved in the sale of homes, seized years ago from their original Kurdish owners, to IDPs aligned with them. This raises concerns over the persistent manipulation of properties owned by residents in the occupied Afrin region.
Sources indicate that Abdullah Ali, associated with the “Al-Moutasem Brigade” militia and hailing from the village of Kafrnaya, sold two apartments within the same building near Maysalon School in Al-Ashrafiya district. The buyers are IDPs from the town of Soran in the Hama countryside, paying $900 for each apartment.
One of the apartments belongs to citizen Shawqi Mohamed from the village of Kakhur\ Kaxrê in the Mobata district, while the other belongs to citizen Imad Hussein from the village of Khalnera near Afrin city.
Additionally, a militants originally from rural Homs, affiliated with the leader of the “Sultan Murad” militia, Abu Walid Al-Azeh, sold a confiscated house to a relative for $1200. The property, located near Sheikh Hamza Street in Al-Ashrafiya neighborhood, originally belongs to citizen Issam Shiekho from the village of Deir Swane in the Sherawa district.
