Our sources reported that the Syrian regime’s security apparatus arrested a citizen, “Hannan Ahmed Kusrah,” aged 30, from the village of Sheikhutka in Mobata|Mabatli, on October 10 of this year. He was apprehended while traveling between the Shahba region and the city of Aleppo for the purpose of trading textiles, without any clear charges being presented against him.

The ources confirmed that Syrian security authorities are demanding a financial sum of 20 million Syrian pounds for his release, and he remains in detention.

On August 19 of this year, the Leramon checkpoint, affiliated with the State Security branch of the Syrian regime, on the Aleppo-Afrin road, arrested “Abdul Rahman Fayo” aged 52, from the city of Afrin. He was then taken to one of the security branches in Aleppo province, again without clear charges being filed against him.

The Syrian regime has been imposing additional pressure on Kurdish citizens, in addition to the harsh economic conditions in areas under its control. Its checkpoints, located on roads leading to the Shahba region in northern Aleppo, and others at the entrances to Kurdish neighborhoods in Aleppo city, have been imposing financial fines on various pretexts, including alleging that those detained are carrying excessive amounts of money beyond the allowed limit.
