Militias belonging to the Turkish-affiliated “Syrian National Army” persist in their relentless assault on olive fields, which belong to the residents of the Afrin region in northwestern Syria. These attacks manifest as either the brazen theft of olive harvests or the malicious felling of olive trees for the purpose of selling their wood as heating fuel.
According to our reporter, armed members of the “Suqour Hayan” militia, an arm of the “Syrian National Army,” were responsible for the cutting down of 25 olive trees. These olive trees belonged to the forcibly displaced Kurdish citizen, “Hussein Manan,” hailing from the town of Bulbulah in the Afrin countryside. This ruthless act transpired after they had completed the harvest and stolen the yield.
Additionally, a group of armed individuals turned into thieves. Yesterday morning, these thieves brazenly pilfered the olive harvest from a field near the village of Sinka/Sankarli in the Shara/Sharan sub-district. The field is the property of “Hassan Abdo,” and the act of harvesting was accompanied by severe damage to the field through the destruction of olive tree branches.
In the central district of Afrin, thieves once again displayed their audacity. Two days ago, on Thursday, these individuals stole nearly 300 kilograms of pomegranates from a field located along the road to the village of Terenda. This field is the property of the Kurdish citizen “Ahmed Sleiman,” an inhabitant of the village of Ain Dara.
