afrinpost – Exclusive

According to our sources in Afrin, unauthorized tree cutting operations in the olive fields of Kurdish citizens persist, accompanied by continued thefts from their homes by armed individuals and IDPs affiliated with the Turkish-backed militias.

In detail, on August 30, 2023, gunmen from the “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia cut down 18 olive trees from the forcibly displaced citizen “Mohieddin Khalil,” hailing from the village of Tal Hamou, located on the road to the town of Jindires.

In the city of Afrin, an IDP originally from Eastern Ghouta in the Damascus countryside stole from the house of the citizen “Subhi Hayder,” a resident of Jindires located at the entrance to Afrin. Items stolen included copper pots, a television screen, and three solar panels.

On August 28th, unidentified gunmen cut down 55 olive trees from fields located along the water channel road between the villages of Kokaba and Kafarzit in the Jinderes district.

The ownership of these fields belongs to the citizens “Hassan Bakr” from the village of Baadina in the Rajo sub-district and “Mohammed Bakr.” The attackers completely cut down 20 trees and partially cut down 35 trees.
