On September 8th, Faylaq al-Sham militia abducted three tribesmen from the Bani Az tribe who were on their way to the city of Jarabulus. This incident occurred at one of the militia’s checkpoints in the occupied countryside of Afrin.
The militia kidnapped the three tribesmen, one of whom led an armed group heading to Jarabulus to join the National Army militias in the frontlines against the Manbij Military Council forces in the rural areas of Manbij.
The militia checkpoint members stopped them on charges of attempting to smuggle counterfeit dollars into Jarabulus under the guise of assisting the so-called Arab tribes. They were then taken to the prison in the village of Iska, located in the Sherawa subdistrict in the occupied Afrin.
In response, the Beni Az tribe has given the Faylaq al-Sham militia a 48-hour ultimatum to release the abductees, threatening to escalate the situation if they are not freed.
