Pro-Turkey Militant Confiscates Kurdish Citizen’s Property in Afrin

afrinpost – Exclusive

On August 2, an IDP associated with the “Hamzat” militia laid claim to a house and a shop owned by a Kurdish citizen, citing an outstanding debt owed by the citizen’s brother during the previous Autonomous Administration era. The IDP resorted to threats of violence, warning the citizen against reporting the incident to the Turkish authorities in Afrin.

According to the provided details, the IDP, identified as “Ali Mohammed,” a member of the “Hamzat” militia hailing from Al-Safeera town in Aleppo countryside, took possession of the property belonging to the citizen “Mustafa Khalil Hassan” from the village of Baddina – Rajo sub-district. The citizen resides in Al-Mahmoudiya neighborhood, near the Kazia roundabout in the occupied Afrin.

In his justification for the property seizure, “Ali” claimed that the citizen’s brother, currently residing in Aleppo, had previously purchased engine oils and filters from him during the period of the previous Autonomous Administration in Afrin.

Under duress, the IDP coerced the citizen “Mustafa” into signing a sales contract and issued death threats should any complaint be lodged against him. The estimated value of the unlawfully seized house and shop amounts to $30,000.

In another concerning incident, a member of the “Ahrar al-Sharqiya” militia, originally from Al-Sbeineh in Damascus, identified as “Abdul Karim Abu Seif,” sold the house belonging to the citizen “Mohammed Rafat Ali” from the village of Araba – Mobata/Mabatli, located in the Al-Ashrafieh neighborhood, in exchange for a meager sum of $800.
