The occupied region of Afrin continues to witness continuous clashes and violence among incoming IDPs, a majority of whom are armed. This situation persists despite the Turkish authorities turning a blind eye to the deteriorating security situation and the proliferation of crime in the area.
As reported by our sources, a brawl erupted between relatives from the Mawali tribe in the village of Tillef, located in the Jindires sub-district, on August 25. The altercation escalated into gunfire between the parties involved, resulting in the death of settler “Fadi Mahdi Tuwairij al-Mur’ei.” The perpetrator fled to an unknown location.
In another incident, a fight broke out in al-Ashrafieh neighborhood of Afrin city on August 22, between IDPs from the village of Bashantra in Aleppo countryside and others from Eastern Ghouta in Damascus countryside. The altercation involved the use of knives and firearms, resulting in injuries to two individuals from the Eastern Ghouta IDPs.
