Turkish Court Enables Militia Theft, Coerces Kurdish Citizen to Drop Complaint

afrinpost– Exclusive

The Turkish court in Azaz has ordered the imprisonment of a Kurdish citizen and coerced him into dropping his complaint regarding the theft of his house by a member affiliated with the “National Army” militias. This blatant collusion between the Turkish authorities and the violations committed by these militias against Kurdish citizens in the occupied region of Afrin is deeply concerning.

According to reliable sources, a member of the “Jaish al-Islam” militia, originally from Hama, had stolen the contents of a house on the Trenda Road belonging to Kurdish citizen Mustafa Ahmed from the village of Dargirê in the Mobata sub-district about two weeks ago. The perpetrator fled to the city of Tel Abyad.

The citizen Mustafa filed a complaint with the military police in Afrin, but it was disregarded. Frustrated, the homeowner filed a complaint with witnesses before the court in Azaz. However, the judge informed him that the IDP could not be pursued because he was a military personnel.

When the citizen Mustafa responded, saying, “If he were Kurdish, you would have captured him without hesitation,” the judge ordered his detention for five hours and forced him to drop the complaint as a condition for his release.

It should be noted that armed individuals, under the security leadership of the “Sultan Murad” militia, specifically a person named “Fayez Abu Adi,” assaulted elderly citizen Zaki Sheikh Naasan (70 years old) from the village of Qastal Kishk, affiliated with the town of Shara/Sharan in the occupied Afrin countryside, on May 30, 2023. This incident occurred because he had filed a complaint with the local council in Shara/Sharan regarding the militia’s actions.
