Reports of ongoing violations and killings by Turkish-backed SNA militias persist in the occupied region of Afrin, targeting the remaining indigenous Kurdish population, regardless of age. Elderly individuals, in particular, are subjected to various forms of abuse, often resulting in direct fatalities.
In a tragic incident, the elderly Kurdish wowman Qadriya Jameel Ibish, approximately 70 years old and from the village of Ka’ani Gewrike in the Jindires district of occupied Afrin, was fatally shot on the evening of June 3rd. The source of the unidentified bullet that struck her near the Maratah/Maratat intersection in the occupied city of Afrin remains unknown.
According to our correspondent, Qadriya suddenly collapsed near the Maratah intersection, close to the security headquarters of the “Mohammed Al-Fateh” militia. Local residents rushed to assist her, initially believing she had fainted due to her advanced age. To their shock, they discovered a bullet lodged in her head, causing her immediate death. Her body was subsequently transferred to the Afrin Hospital before being handed over to her family.
The source of the bullet remains unknown, and no nearby gunfire was reported by the residents. However, military police militias have been deployed in the vicinity of the “Mohammed Al-Fateh” militia headquarters.
It is worth noting that during and after the invasion of the Turkish army and the “National Army” militias into the Afrin region, which witnessed acts of looting and plundering, Qadriya staunchly defended her children’s possessions, including cars and houses, managing to preserve them throughout the five years of occupation.
