afrinpost – Exclusive

According to reliable sources, the Turkish intelligence has arrested seven individuals from the original residents of Afrin in the industrial zone of the occupied city of Afrin on April 26, 2023. They were allegedly charged with evading compulsory military service during the previous self-administration period.

Among those detained were Hamouda Hurik (29 years old) from the village of Şêx Xorzê in the Bulbul sub-district, and Habash Habash (28 years old) from the village of Şêtana in the Mobata sub-district. Additionally, a third individual from the village of Qastal Khishk was initially detained but was released two hours later.

The sources mentioned the names of the remaining four individuals on April 29, 2023. They are Mohammad Obeid (33 years old), Hussein Matar (32 years old), Issa (30 years old), who are Arab residents of Afrin from the village of Tal Tawil, and the Kurdish citizen, Agid Abdou.

Arrest operations are often carried out arbitrarily, either through detaining individuals at security checkpoints or through “violent” raids accompanied by thorough searches of homes and humiliation of the occupants. The charges mostly revolve around alleged ties to the previous Autonomous Administration or espionage for Kurdish military entities.
