Military Police Arrests Two Young Men in Afrin

afrinpost– Exclusive

Yesterday, the military police militia, under the control of the Turkish authorities, arrested two young men as part of a series of arrests targeting the original residents of Afrin, under the pretext of performing compulsory military service during the previous Autonomous Administration period in the occupied city of Afrin.

Our correspondent in the city reported that the military police militia detained the Kurdish citizen, Ahmed Hassan Korkan (23 years old), in the area of Souq al-Hall. They also arrested Mohammed Jumaa, an Arab resident of Afrin who resides near Sheikh Shawah Mosque. However, the latter paid a ransom of $1,300 to secure his immediate release.

Our correspondent added that the leader of the military police militia, Ahmad Kabso, prepared a list of wanted individuals from the residents of Afrin. According to this list, the militia has been conducting raid campaigns in neighborhoods across the city of Afrin in recent days. Last night, they raided several houses near Bilal Mosque in al-Ashrafiyah neighborhood.

It should be noted that the Turkish authorities had previously arrested seven individuals in the industrial zone of the occupied city of Afrin on April 26, 2023, on alleged same charges.
