Tension escalated on Friday evening in the village of Kafr Janna in the Sharan district, in the countryside of occupied Afrin, between the “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” organization and “National Army” militias, following the organization’s control over the Tala’ea Al-Baath camp.
According to our reporter, the military tension in the village of Kafr Jannah in the Shera district of Afrin erupted after Fahim Issa, the leader of the “Sultan Murad” militia, ousted one of his commanders for being linked to the HTS group. The dismissed commander and his followers subsequently defected to the HTS and handed over the camp to them. The HTS responded by bringing in substantial military backup from Afrin city and gaining complete control of the camp.
As a result, the “Second and Third Corps” militias were put on high alert, and Turkish forces brought in four tanks and placed them at the four junctions of Kafr Janna village, amidst intense reconnaissance aircraft hovering over the area, threatening to target the camp if the organization and the isolated/defected leader did not withdraw from the Tala’ea Al-Baath camp.
In addition, National Army militias, accompanied by Turkish tanks, deployed in the village of Ma’arska, in the Shera/Sharan district, to prevent reinforcements from reaching the organization.
After negotiations between the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham organization and Turkish intelligence, the organization’s elements withdrew towards the city of Afrin and the village of Maryameen.
Our reporter also revealed that since the Turkish-Syrian rapprochement, Turkish forces and intelligence have isolated leaders who refuse to reconcile with the Syrian regime and seek to form a new body under the leadership of the Turkmen “Fahim Issa,” the leader of the “Sultan Murad” militia.”
