The occupied city of Afrin is witnessing a disturbing trend of illegal sales of homes belonging to Kurdish citizens. According to our reporter there, these sales are being conducted by armed groups operating under the guise of the military police militia, affiliated with the Turkish forces.
The reporter said that a man known as “Abu Ali,” who is affiliated with the “Al-Jabha al-Shamiya” militia, has sold three houses to an IDP who recently moved to Afrin from Jindires. These transactions include a property owned by the Kurdish citizen Jihad Barkat, located opposite al-Ashrafieh pharmacy and sold for $1,200, a property owned by citizen Najah Mohammad from Mazen village, situated on the first floor of a residential building near Bilal mosque, and sold for $1,000, and a property owned by citizen Mohammed Khaled from Rajo town, located in the industrial area and sold for $800.
Our reporter confirms that these illegal sales are being arranged between “Abu Ali” and “Ahmed Kabso,” who was appointed as the head of the military police militia in Afrin. Kasbo, who previously held a leadership position in the “Al-Jabha al-Shamiya” militia, was able to negotiate his position with the “Hayat Tahrir al-Sham” organization after they took control of Afrin, securing his appointment as head of Military Police in exchange for a large sum of money. He currently controls nearly 50 shops and houses that belong to original Kurdish residents of Afrin, renting them out for his personal gain.
