Reliable sources stated to our site today that the Turkish-backed “military police” militia seized two residential buildings in al-Ashrafieh neighborhood in the occupied city of Afrin, and housed its gunmen and their families in, despite the presence of the owners of the two properties in the city and submitting a request to restore their property after its evacuation by the Turkish army, who took it as one of its military headquarters.
The two residential buildings, which consist of 14 apartments, 4 shops, in addition to warehouses, are owned by (Nadim Sheikho, from the village of Gubake, and Yahya Habash and his brother Zakariya, from the village of Shetana), who requested the Turkish authorities to hand them their properties back, but the militia refused to hand them over to them and recently housed its gunmen and their families there.
At the beginning of 2019, the Turkish forces took the residential buildings in al-Fil street/ al-Ashrafieh neighborhood as their main military base, after they expelled its residents from their homes. The eviction process was followed by a comprehensive looting campaign of the houses located in that residential block, which consists of about 30 residential buildings around “Al-Takaddum” school, and it was used as a military base until it was vacated on October 25, 2020 in favor of its Muslim Brotherhood militia instead of handing it over to its real owners.
The militia also seizes a number of other apartments in those buildings, known from their owners (Zaafaran Mustafa – Rashid Muhammad – Rezan – Amal.. and many others). The militia also forced those who could restore their homes to rent them to families affiliated with them at very low prices.
It is worth noting that the Turkish army has established military bases in a number of villages of the region after displacing their people without providing them with any compensation since the occupation of the region in March 2018, including the villages of Che, Derwish, Basile, Jilbire, and the upper part of the village of Telf, in addition to which it and its militias have turned many schools and civilian homes into military headquarters.
