Turkish authorities release young Kurdish man has foot amputated due to torture

afrinpost – Exclusive

Reliable sources stated o our site today, Sunday, that the Turkish authorities released about two weeks ago a Kurdish citizen after spending more than two years in the notorious Al-Rai prison, to find that one of his legs was amputated after he contracted gangrene as a result of severe torture he suffered during and after his arrest.

The sources reported that the 36-year-old Kurdish youth, Mustafa Mohieddin Batal, from Şiyê/Sheikh Al-Hadid, was kidnapped more than two years ago from his home in the vicinity of Mahmudiya Gas Station in the city of Afrin, by the Turkish-backed “Sultan Murad” militia.

During the kidnapping, “Batal” was severely beaten in front of his wife and two children, as a result of which one of his legs was broken, but despite that, he was kidnapped and taken to the militia prison, to be transferred later to Al-Ra’i prison in the occupied Al-Bab city.

The sources added that the young “Batal” – married and has two children – was not seen at the time by a doctor in prison, which aggravated his health and injured his leg with gangrene, so the prison administration transferred him to the hospital to amputate his leg, and he remained in that condition until he was released before about two weeks ago.
