In Afrin: Pro-Turkey militias threaten Kurds who file complaints to recover their properties

afrinpost – Exclusive

The Turkish authorities in Afrin use a ruse named the “ Rights Restitution Committee”, to improve their image, while their militants threaten citizens who file complaints and demand them to vacate their houses or properties.

Our reporter stated that the Turkish-backed “Ahrar al-Sham” militia gunmen in Kurzêlê/Qurzaihel village threaten some villagers who have homes seized in al-Ashrafieh neighborhood in Afrin city if the complaints submitted to the “Rights Restitution Committee” against the militants or IDPs were not withdrawn. Adding that the Ahrar al-Sham militants in the village are affiliated with the “Al-Jabha al-Shamiya” militia, led by the so-called Abu al-Hassanin, as well as Naim group.

We refrain from mentioning the names of citizens who filed complaints with the so-called “Rights Restitution Committee”, in the interest of their safety.

Nevertheless, our reporter monitored the following cases of seized properties belong to people of Kurzêlê village in Afrin:

An armed member of the “Naim” group affiliated with the “al-Jabha al-Shamiya” militia seized two apartments owned by the citizen Muhammad Nasser.

A member of the “Abu al-Hassanin” group affiliated with the “Ahrar al-Sham” militia seizes an apartment owned by the citizen Tahseen Nasser, located in the “Abu Ibrahim Arouda” building.

An armed man affiliated with the so-called “Deir ez-Zor Sons Assembly” seizes an apartment owned by Muhammad Aswad.

In addition, a gunman from the Turkish-backed “al-Jabha al-Shamiya” militia, located in Kawa roundabout, seized an apartment owned by Muhammad Ibo.

The so-called “Naim” from the “Al-Jabha al-Shamiya” militia is renting three shops he seizes. These shops are located near Bilal Mosque and are owned by Muhammad Nasser, a resident of Kurzêlê village.

Meanwhile, an IPD named Ghassan Mahmoud, from Eastern Ghouta, sold one of the two apartments he seizes to his cousin for $1,400, and left an apartment for himself to live in. The two apartments are owned by the forcibly displaced Kurdish citizen Abd al-Mannan Sheikh, and they are located near the Saleh al-Ali School.
