Clashes erupt between two Turkish-backed armed groups in al-Ashrafieh, Afrin

afrinpost – Exclusive

Light clashes erupted yesterday evening, Sunday, between the Turkish-backed “Jaish al-Islam” and “Jabhat al-Shamiya”, against the backdrop of an attack on an elderly man in al-Ashrafieh neighborhood in occupied Afrin center in northern Syria.

Our correspondent stated that armed men from “al-Oso” group affiliated with the “Jabhat al-Shamiya” militia attacked an IDP elderly man (from Ghouta) riding motorcycles on al-Safris road in al-Ashrafieh neighborhood, which prompted an armed group of “Jaish al-Islam” to intervene to defend him. As a result, a quarrel ensued between the two sides, and it developed into an exchange of fire, without anyone being injured.

Also in al-Ashrafieh neighborhood, an explosive device placed in a garbage container in an area near “al-Maysaloun” school exploded, without any injuries reported.
