afrinpost – Special
Ashrafieh neighborhood in the center of the occupied Afrin region witnessed, yesterday evening, Tuesday, a fire that broke out in a warehouse of plastic materials, while firefighting teams rushed to extinguish the fire in what remained of it without any human loses.
In details, afrinpost correspondent in the city stated that a militant from the “Jaish al-Islam” militia was the one who burned the warehouse due to a dispute between him and a settler from Idlib regarding the right to seize the store owned by the displaced Kurdish citizen, Muhammad Rashid, who is a resident of Village Qada / Rajo.
In the same context, the reporter added that the group of the leader in the Islamic “al-Jabha al-Shamiya” militia, called “Abu Muhammad Shamiya”, distributes the houses located in Al-Fil neighborhood – Ashrafieh to its members, and refuses to hand them over to their owners in Afrin, noting that a very limited number of owners of the houses had reclaimed their homes, but they had to rent them.
At the beginning of 2019, the Turkish forces had taken residential buildings as their main military base in the city center of Afrin, after they had expelled their residents, and that the expulsion process was followed by a comprehensive looting campaign for the homes located in that residential block.
Turkish forces evacuated these buildings in late October 2020, to be completely seized by al-Jabha al-Shamiya militia, and refused to return them to their original owners.
The number of residential buildings on the site are about 30 residential buildings (four floors), which are in the middle of Al-Takadum School, and they were taken by a military base after cutting the streets leading to them with dirt mounds and barbed wire, installing spotlights and deploying snipers on the roofs of residential buildings.
A number of tanks were stationed at the base, and the “23rd Division” militia guarded the base, which is located in Al-Fol Quarter – behind the former Asayish Center – in Ashrafieh neighborhood in the city center.
