Ankara does not seem intent on returning all the Syrian mercenaries who were transferred to the fighting fronts in the war that took place between Azerbaijan and Armenia, and the Turkish intelligence (MIT) offered the Syrian mercenaries the possibility to accompany their families in order to settle there.
According to the information leaked and circulating between the militants of the Muslim Brotherhood organization loyal to Ankara and who participated in the war alongside the Azerbaijani forces against Armenia in Nagorno Karabakh region that the Turkish intelligence had offered the Malik Shah militia and a section of “Suleiman Shah – Al-Amshat” and “Sultan Murad” that they could accompany their families to Azerbaijan, and it seems that the new is trying to tempt the mercenaries to settle and not return, and the goal is to keep the mercenaries in the front lines in case the ceasefire collapsed.
However, the goal beyond, the goal is to make a demographic change in the disputed area in the Nagorno Karabakh / Artsakh region, especially since a number of families have left their homes and villages because of the war, and it is difficult for them to return under Azeri control.
And media reports stated that Ankara is sending Turkish forces to Artsakh region, as well as the families of mercenaries loyal to it, focusing on Turkmens, because Ankara is relying on their presence to intervene as happened in Cyprus and during the Syrian crisis.
Sky News Arabia, citing its own sources, revealed that the Turkish government had transferred dozens of Arab and Turkmen families from the areas under its control in northeastern Syria to the Nagorno-Karabakh region, to settle them in the areas from which the Armenian forces withdrew, in order to bring about a demographic change in the region.
However, the mercenary elements showed reluctance to accept the Turkish offer because it implies an open-term stay in Azerbaijan and thus no-return, and the information indicates that none of the militias agreed to this offer.
It is noteworthy that the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan had stopped according to an agreement concluded on 11/10/2020 under Russian auspices, and Azerbaijan retained the areas that were controlled during the war, and Ankara stood by Baku in this conflict and supported it with drones and Syrian mercenaries.
