Armed men of “Sultan Murad” militia are forcing Kurds to lease their olive lands

Afrinpost – Special

The Afrinpost correspondent at the center of the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin in northern Syria reported tha”Autonomous Administration”t the “Sultan Murad Squad” militia affiliated with the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood organization had seized an olive field containing 700 trees, owned by the Kurdish citizen “Qader Alloush”.

The reporter added that “Alloush” was a driver at the court previously, and he had a taxi he worked on in the city. The militia gunmen free-hold an olive field for 1,400 US dollars, and the field is located at the end of Al-Ashrafieh neighborhood near Al-Qaws entrance.

Free-holding is considered an innovated method by the militias affiliated with the Turkish occupation, to obtain money, and it involves pre-sale of the season according to unfair estimates of tree production and does not take into account production costs, so that the Afrin peasant loses in the gains.

Free-holding became a new plan followed in occupied Afrin. The Turkish occupation militias in the Bulbul / Bulbul district imposed a royalty on the people for olive fields according to the number of trees, and the people were forced to lease their fields to the militias.

The average amount that a farmer can get is estimated at 5-8 thousand Syrian pounds, depending on the production of the tree, and if the farmer refuses to lease his field, he will be prevented from harvesting the crop and deprived of the whole season, by threatening to accuse them of dealing with the previous “Autonomous Administration” and performing ” The duty of self-defense “during the era of the “Autonomous Administration”, to be handed over to the Turkish occupation forces.
