At least 8 gunmen from Failaq Al-Sham militia of the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood, at least, were killed by an operation carried out by “Afrin Liberation Forces” in the village of Basofan in the occupied Kurdish Afrin region, in northern Syria.

Local sources told RT that the operation began with the infiltration of members of the forces to one of Failaq Al-Sham militia points near the town of Basofan in the Shirawa district of Afrin countryside, where militia militants were targeted and a number of them were killed, and when the militia militants asked for help, their gunmen also fell in an ambush from explosive devices and mines, a number of dead and wounded were among the armed supporters.

The sources said that the number of dead and wounded is estimated at dozens, but so far there are 8 confirmed deaths, most of them from Idlib and Hama.

In this context, Syrian political analyst Rizan Haddou told RT that this operation “came in response to the Turkish army and its factions continuing to bomb the villages of northern Aleppo countryside that are under the Syrian army in addition to villages located to the west of the Al-Bab area.”

Haddou added that the context in which this operation came was “the bombing targeting civilians, as well as the burning of crops in those areas, in addition to the violations by the Turkish army against civilians there.”

In turn, the “Afrin Liberation Forces” said yesterday, Friday, that “in the early hours of the morning of June 19, our forces carried out a large and qualitative operation targeting the Turkish occupation mercenaries in the occupied Afrin region, during which a large number of the mercenaries of the occupation were killed and others were wounded.”

And added: “Our forces will publish a detailed statement in the coming period, in addition to the photocopying documents of the operation.”

The “Afrin Liberation Forces” had issued a statement Thursday / the eighteenth of June, in which it revealed a new series of counter-operations against the Muslim Brotherhood militants who call themselves “the Syrian National Army / Free Army.”

The forces said at the time: “On June 12th: Our forces carried out a qualitative operation on the road between the villages of Burj Haidar and Ghazawiya, in the Shirawa district, during which three mercenaries were killed.”
