Islamic militias affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, who are known as the “Syrian National Army / Free Army”, and under the direct supervision of the Turkish occupation intelligence, impoverish the remaining indigenous Kurdish people in the occupied Afrin region, by imposing a set of royalties that lead to displace them for the benefit of the settlers loyal to them.
In the context, the Afrinpost reporter at Afrin center said that the settler director of the Afrin Water Institution used Islamic militants to force citizens to pay their bills, despite the fact that the people of the region suffer from difficult living conditions in light of the lack of work opportunities.
The reporter added that the settler company director, Abdel Qader Al-Hafiz, called on Monday, gunmen from the “Criminal Security” militia to accompany the employees of the Afrin Water Institution, in order to force the citizens to pay the water bills, knowing that the bill is limited to the remainder of the Kurdish indigenous population exclusively. The settlers are exempted from paying the bills, on the pretext that they are displaced, and that the indigenous people of Afrin are residents.
This comes while the “Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria” has exempted citizens from paying water and electricity bills during the curfew period, in order to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
Since the beginning of the Turkish military occupation, the occupation has kidnapped many employees of the Water institution, in addition to the dismissing many, including the former director of the institution, to designate the occupation as a settler from the city of Marea as its director called “Abdul Qadir Al-Hafiz.”
