Islamic militia checkpoints known as the “National Army” of the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood continue to pressure the Kurdish drivers and not others, to extract driving certificates issued by the local occupation councils, under the penalty of confiscating personal identity and transferring to the criminal courts of the Turkish occupation in the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin in orthern Syria, according to Afrinpost reporter.
Security barriers erected at the entrances and exits of cities in the region began by emphasizing the presentation of driving certificates issued by the Turkish occupation authorities, regardless of whether or not the regular certificates they hold have expired.
The process of tightening extends exclusively to the Kurdish drivers, as the gunmen seize the identity card, and if he does not extradite it, he will be transferred to the “Criminal Court”, which results in imprisonment, vehicle seizure, and financial fines, while these procedures do not include the settlers, who arrive and tour around Afrin without any restrictions.
Occupation councils are working on granting driving certificates, without the applicant being subject to any training courses, in contrast to what was prevalent during the era of “Self-Administration” that was dedicated to a driving school at Jendiris Agricultural Airport.
Occupation councils receive the special certificate for vehicles / 6 thousand / and public vehicles / 11 thousand /, as for heavy vehicles, the applicant is charged / 11 thousand Syrian pounds, in the case of not having any certificate, and if it is available, it costs half the sums mentioned.
The (Local Council of the occupation) for the city of Afrin issued a decision on the twenty-ninth of last April, to replace the old and valid certificates for cars and various vehicles with certificates issued by it.
