Afrinpost Special
The Islamic militias of the Turkish occupation and the Muslim Brotherhood continue their daily abuses in the occupied Kurdish region of Afrin , where they cut down and trade forests for their own benefit.
In this context, the correspondent of the “Afrinpost” reported that the memebers of Islamic militias formed workshops of militants, where they cut trees from the forests of the province of Afrin and collect firewood in fixed centers on the outskirts of villages.
The correspondent added that the militias are selling one ton of cypress and pine trees between 20 to 30 thousand Syrian pounds, and also export large quantities of them to Turkey in order to convert them into coal.
The correspondent pointed out that militia gunmen also cut olive trees from some orchards belonging to the forcibly displaced Afrinis to the areas of Shahba, northern Syria, despite the claim of the local council of the occupation issued instructions not to cut trees or trade them, as it is known that the decisions of those councils apply only on ethnic Kurds, while armed or settlers don’t take seriously.
Residents in the Kurdish region are forced to buy firewood as an alternative heating method for fuel heaters, as a result of the high price of diesel, which is currently sold for 350 liters per liter.
Since the beginning of its occupation by Turkey and its Islamic militia, Afrin has witnessed the cutting and burning of forest trees as well as olive trees, especially in the districts of Rajo, Bulbula and Mabatli.
