The afrinpost team has verified the authenticity of an audio recording, circulated three days ago, that reveals a new measure imposed by Turkish authorities on the residents of the occupied Afrin region.
The recording is attributed to Hassan Mamo Khalil, a member of the so-called “Local Council in Rajo” and the head of the local village leaders. In it, he informs villagers that they must obtain prior security approval from the Turkish Intelligence Department at the “Police Command” building in Rajo before hosting any public event, such as weddings, engagement parties, or other gatherings.
This decision comes despite Kurdish community events being conducted peacefully, without disputes or celebratory gunfire, in open venues or family homes under the observation of local militias. In contrast, gatherings held by IDPs often involve excessive gunfire and significant security violations that go unchecked.
This new measure is seen as part of systematic policies aimed at tightening restrictions on the indigenous Kurdish population and pressuring them to leave the region.
