Our correspondent reported yesterday, September 18, an intensive deployment of Turkish forces and the Joint Force militias (Al-Amshat and Al-Hamzat), stationed at the Ghazawiya crossings in the Sharan sub-district, Deir Ballut in Jindires sub-district, and Kafr Jannah village junction in the Shara sub-district, where the crossings with Idlib governorate were closed to civilians and military personnel. This was to prevent the entry of military convoys belonging to the “Suqour al-Shamal\ Northern Falcons Brigade” militia from Idlib governorate towards Afrin and Azaz.
The correspondent indicated that the Turkish armored vehicles, deployed at the four-way checkpoint in the village of Kafr Jannah, prevented cars coming from Azaz towards Afrin, and directed the vehicles to change their route to the village of Qatma towards Azaz as an alternative to the Afrin-Azaz road. It also requested the Joint Force militias to be on military alert in Afrin after the “Suqour al-Shamal\ Northern Falcons” joined the “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiya” militia and refused to dissolve itself.
The Joint Force militias reportedly sent dozens of military vehicles, including tanks, from Hawar Kilis in the Azaz countryside to the city of Afrin. At the same time, the “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiya” and the “Suqour al-Shamal\ Northern Falcons Brigade” mobilized their forces in the city of Azaz and the Afrin countryside, which led to an escalation of military tension between the two parties.
