According to our correspondent, the 37-year-old Farhad Haj Abdo, a married father of two from the village of Matina in Sharan sub-district, has been left bedridden following a severe assault. Farhad now suffers from frequent unconsciousness, struggles to speak, and remains in a fragile state of health.

On July 24, 2024, Farhad was brutally beaten and tortured near an olive field close to the “Al-Harsh Camp,” a base of the “Sultan Murad Division” militia, led by Araba Idris. He had taken his tractor to plow the field near the neighboring village of Qurtqlaq, but later in the evening, his family found him thrown into a valley beside the field after searching for him.

This was not the first attack on Farhad. A year earlier, he had been kidnapped and beaten by members of the “Sultan Murad Division” and had repeatedly faced harassment and threats. The militia accused him of cultivating olive fields belonging to displaced residents of the village, despite him having no political affiliations.

Fearing retaliation and unsure of the identity of the attackers, Farhad’s family has refrained from filing any complaints. Knowing that the Turkish authorities have not launched any investigations into the incident, leaving the perpetrators unpunished.
