Militia Imposes Extortion on Deported Syrians at Turkish Border

Militants of the Turkish-allied “Al-Jabha Al-Shamiya” have imposed financial extortion on approximately 65 individuals deported on Thursday, August 22, by Turkish authorities through the Bab al-Salama border crossing in Azaz, northern Aleppo. Most of those deported possess temporary protection cards, known as “Kimlik.”

According to our correspondent, the militia detained the deportees at a nearby center under the pretext of verifying that they were not wanted by authorities. This was done to pressure them into paying a bribe of 2,500 Turkish lira per person.

When some families refused to pay, the militia detained four individuals from Aleppo and Hama until the demanded ransom was paid.
