afrinpost – exclusive

On the evening of Thursday, August 1, the “Border Guard” militia arrested four individuals attempting to cross into Turkey, our correspondent reports. Among those detained were Hassan Ali Ali, 47, and Mohammed Ali Ali, 33, both from the Arab community in Jindires, as well as two individuals from Hama.

The group was apprehended in the Bulbul sub-district while trying to cross the border with the help of a smuggler from the Darbala family in Azaz. The detainees are currently held by “Abu Mahmoud Al-Asmar,” the head of border security for the “Sultan Murad Division,” in a prison in Bulbul town.

According to sources, Al-Asmar is demanding a ransom of $3,000 for the release of each detainee, alleging fabricated charges against Hassan and Mohammed Ali Ali to extort their families.
