Turkish Forces Arrests Four Kurds from Rajo, Afrin

According to a report by the Kurdish Democratic Unity Party in Syria (Yekiti) dated 27/7/2024, Turkish intelligence has arrested four Kurdish citizens from the Rajo area in separate incidents.

  • On 12/7/2024, Turkish intelligence and the “Military Police in Rajo” arrested two Kurdish youths, Salah Karbalo (20) and Muhammad Haj Qanbar bin Khalil (24) from the village of Khilalka – Rajo, accusing them of previous associations with the Autonomous Administration. They were released after two days of detention and fined.
  • Turkish intelligence and the “Military Police in Rajo” arrested Idris Rashid Sheikho (55) from the village of Haj Khalil – Rajo, on 17/7/2024, on charges of belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). He remains under arbitrary detention despite having left the party in 2000 and having served a year and a half in a Syrian regime prison for his previous involvement.
  • On 18/7/2024, Turkish intelligence and the “Military Police” arrested Manan Maho Mamo Naasan (40) from the village of Dumlia – Rajo, for alleged ties to the Autonomous Administration. He had recently returned to Afrin from the displacement area of Shahba in northern Aleppo and remains under arbitrary detention.
